i installed my eibach drag launch kit last weekend and when i put the car on the ground the driver side was sitting almost an inch lower than the passenger side. i put the springs in the right spot with the pigtails of the spring pointing out. any suggestions?

Dude! I thought it was just me! Here is what I think about it: Since hard launching puts more force down on the passenger side spring I figure they beefed that one up more, unfortunately making it sit higher also... Also, weren't you totally shocked at how much it did lower the rear end?! When I brought it down off the lift I though I must have done something wrong, huge drop!

ummm i have mac lowering springs and my drivers side sits about an inch lower too and i thought I was the only only..... Glad to see im not alone. The more i rotated the passenger spring the more it leveled out. Im just gonna put air bags back there right now for a quick fix. like the ones that come with the drag launch kit....

I have the drag launch kit and it leaned to the driver's side also. I always wondered if the airbag in the right side was making it sit higher, so last time we were up under there (welding subframes), I removed the airbag and now the car sits perfectly level.
I know that the un-even lean that the airbag causes would be benificial for hard launches, since the rear naturally squats to the passenger side and lifts up on the driver's side upon hard launch, but I'd just rather have a level rear end right now. If one day I'm making the kind of power that I need extra pre-load in the passenger spring, I'll put it back in.

I have heard about the launch springs doing that.. I'd say its normal like mentioned since the chassis torques to pass side on hard launches.. I have Moroso trick springs in the rear.. You wanna see the difference with those.. Alot taller then stock springs, when I lowered it from the lift it seemed like it was jacked up in the back 2" until I jounced it.. But on any type of launch these springs are great the car just squats and goes, looks sweet.. Anyone running the front trick springs?? I plan on getting those as well along with Lakewood 90/10's

i was really hoping that i put the springs on wrong... it kinda sucks that my car is lop-sided. ive got weight jacker control arms on there so i could just jack up the driver's side, but would this defeat the whole purpose of the way the springs are designed?

are you sure they are both facing out? both of the ends should be facing the same direction. i have mine facing to the drivers side. facing to the passenger may actuall raise the car a hair. fronts are a different story.

Now that mine are both out at the same time, I guess I should have looked at which way they're supposed to be -- do they normally both face one side? --Which side? I could have sworn mine both faced outward, but they must not have -- my cars always sat level. Are you definitely sure that the passenger side will raise the car (a little extra tire clearance)? Thanks!

The rule of thumb I had always heard, and it was in the Eibach's instructions that came with the kit.... the bottom coil on the spring should point towards the driver's side, like <-----
We did mine like that and the passenger's side was a good 1/2" to 3/4" higher than the driver's side, which I hated because once I sat in the driver's seat, the driver's side probably got even lower! This was with the airbag in inflated to 9lbs (the correct pressure for my car's HP). So I took the airbag out the last time we were under there and it's perfectly level now.
I've heard that if the spring was seated pointing in a different direction, it would affect the ride height, but I've never experimented with it.

Thanks for the good info...but I almost wonder when you mention that now if maybe you could keep the bag but point the drivers side toward the passenger side and get it level?

Anyway, it would kind of be a pain to get it all together and then take it back apart just for the direction of the dpring -- so I'm going to try and get it level the first time! I'll just be running stock springs in the back for now, but I might put them in facing the passenger side and try and get more height -- unless you forsee a problem?

I've never heard of having any real problems with facing the springs in different directions. I think they just tell you to do that so that the springs will face in the direction they were meant to and the height will be right. I dunno...
Yeah, I could have left the airbag in and experimented with turning one or both of the springs to get the rear level, but it is kind of a pain removing the wheels, sway bar, lower control arms, etc, over and over. I even considered cutting the pass. side spring to get it level, but decided against it.
I have a good friend who owns a Meineke shop in N.C. who helps me with my car....don't know what I would do without him. I probably could have gotten him to experiment with turning the springs if we hadn't done so much that day already. We did subframes, tailpipes, put in a clutch, removed traction bars (don't ask) and removed the airbag. So after we removed the airbag and it sat level....we called it a day.
Like I said, if I'm ever racing my car regularly and have the kind of power where I'm having trouble with traction, wheel hop, and/or too much squat on the passenger's side, I'll put the airbag back. But as for now, I mainly just mod the car for fun and drive it as my daily driver.
Good luck with yours!

p.s. I thought you were selling it? You'd be crazy to, though. That car is sa-weeeet!

Thanks for your help, BTW.

I did sell the car in my sig/avatar, I just never updated any of it. I boguth a bone stock no-option (except the AOD) 87 coupe. I'm going to get back into serious racing with this car, which I missed alot...so this is part fo the build-up.
