Anyone have a serpentine setup with these components?? Crank, waterpump, smog pump eliminator, a/c eliminator kit, and power steering...on a fox... and if u do wat belt size u runnin?

no...i have crank pulley, i have alternator, i have waterpump pulley, but elimated the a/c with the kit from ford racing to move the power steering pump up, (so i have power steering), and then the smog pump eliminator kit from ford racing (so pretty much a pulley on a bracket), so thats my serpentine setup n was wondering wat belt size to run, i tried the string thing but that didnt work cuz the belt i got was 2 long but barely so im not sure if i should go down an inch or 2 or something. anyone have something like it?

you eliminated your crank and water pump?

if you want any chance at an answer,... you really need to re-phrase that to be a little more clear.... just my 2c.

If you have nothing to add that can help this guy, why even post? I think it's pretty obvious what he was getting at.....

To the OP, just run a piece of string where the serpentine belt should be routed, then measure it. You should be able to find a belt you need once you have that measurement. You'll want the belt to be a bit smaller so the tensioner can do it's job.

ouch that blows to go through 80 dollars in belts! I believe my belt is 2 small b.c right away on start up, the belt will walk off the smog pump eliminatorand will be off by about 2 grooves.. so i will try the string thing and c wat i can come up with! thanx again guys

To me, that would signal that the belt is either to big, or you have an alignment issue with the smog eliminator. How far do you have to push the tensioner back to get the belt on?

well uk the alignment marks on the tensioner its like a big long rectangle? (well not really that big) the pointer points on the very right corner of of it so its kinda down far. (tensioner pulley is more down toward the ground)

How far did you have to move the tensioner to slip the belt on? Ideally, you would want the tensioner to probably be pulled back around half of it's travel (just a guess here) with the belt on. My car is in storage, so I have nothing to reference. Did you just install the smog elim. kit? Like I said, even with the belt being tight, it shouldn't run off the pulley if it's aligned properly.

well it feels tight but the tensioner is i believe is about maybe a little more than a quarter of its tensioningness....(thats a word isn't it?) O OK better word...travel... a little more than a quarter of its whole travel

That should be just fine I would think. I'm guessing your tensioner alignment is what's causing the belt to run off; that or maybe it's just not out far enough. Try stacking and equal amount of washers under all mounting points of the tensioner, bolt it back down, and see what happens?

the thing is though is that the belt only slips off the smog eliminator and thats it and the belt even feels tight and b4 the engine reubuild, b4 i took off the a/c it ran around everything just fine...idk ill try the washer thing

ha got it! thanx guys 4 all the help and btw any suggestions on a leaking timing cover down by the oil pan and having to seal it without taking it all apart... im thinking unscrew bolts and red rtv silicon??

ooo and 1 more thing i think.... i drove her for the first time yesterday since rebuild and every once in a while she would shut off but i just had the clutch in 2 coast to the rest of my way to the corner...is that normal for a fresh motor... and also anyone got an idea how to set up the clutch?? i have a bbk clutch quadrant kit so its got the firewall adjuster...

Ditch the smog pump elim kit. It's really only used for certain supercharger setups that require an OEM belt routing.

Instead, change how the belt runs like this. Much simplier. Your setup would be the red belt...but the lenght is not correct. You will have to string it

I am running stock pulleys with the ford ac delete. You don't need that smog delete pulley. Just run the belt with out using the smog pulley. On my 88 car with no smog pulley and power steering moved up to where the ac is I used a 72.5 K6 belt. The belt was so tight to get on it took a couple people to pry it on. But it stretched after a couple mins.

anyone know what size belt i should get for a 1992 gt with 3g alt, crank, reverse flow water pump, no smog pump or power steering, and no AC? I am getting an ac delete kit that moves the factory tensioner over to the driver side.
