anyway to lock 85 aod into 2nd gear permanetly

i was wondering if there is anyway to lock the aod in my 85 in second gear. i only need second gear cause its only purpose is racing cirlce track.

Nope, you would need a manual for that

i dont own an AOD but i think you can do the 1-D-1 shuffle...start in first shift to D and then shift back to 1. should hold 2nd

I've heard of that, but isn't it really bad on the tranny?

yes its hard on the tranny....proper way to fix this is to get a manual valve body installed in the aod and an aftermarket shifter such as B & M unit.

Yes, holding it in second by shifting back to 1 will overheat the trans. I beleive the OD band is being engaged when you do this

no, i dont believe thats the case. Honestly i dont think there is anything wrong with this method. It just takes time and practice before you get it right.
