Well I guess it is pretty self explanatory. I am putting in 3.73s next week and I have been doing searches like crazy for this. What I need to know specifically is do I need a shift kit for the AOD when I install these gears? I keep reading about needing something for the RPM extender or for the governor. Can someone clarify this.

P.S. I bought 3.73s because that is what I want. Please no 4.10 suggestions.

I need to know too, i am going to drop my 3.90 rear in sometime and i want a shift kit. I dont think i want a converter, i will have a stock motor and the car is street and daily driven.

How are the kits like B&M shift improver kits??

I wouldnt say necessary, but 100 percent effective...if that makes any sense. IMO, owning an AOD car *without* a shift kit would suck. I'd have put in the SK before i got gears, but that's just me. Get your gears in, and then get a nice stall converter and shift kit...that'll really wake up your car.

shift kit not mandatory on 3.73's but worth the money to firm up shifts. and it lets more fluid flow so a cooler is good insurance for your tranny.

stall converters are fine for daily drivers and are the best performance upgrade you can do to an auto car.

just dont go cheap on any component when you want performance.
