I heard AOD with 4.56 = T5 with 2.73 ... I had 4.10's in my 89 lx AOD and loved them. WORLDS difference form 2.73's.

4:10 AOD = 3:73 T5 is exactly what I've always heard. I have 4:10 with my T5 and I love it, so if I ever had an AOD, I'd get at least a 4:30 if not 4:56.

A stock motor on 26 inch slicks will not support 4.56 gears in the 1/4. They will run out of 3rd at 1000 feet causing AOD to kick in. 4.30s is max on a stock engine and 26 inch slicks.

I never heard that before. I had 4.10's w/ a AOD and 3.73's with a t5 and they didnt feel the same. The 4.10's def had more pull. I actualy didnt like em at all, car ran outa gear too soon. If anything I would think any grears in a AOD would feel like more. Im probaly wrong though....

Not that much more than 3.73s. It's not that bad. Remember T-5s have high 5th gear in them. Some of them are .58. 4th is 1:1.

Did it run out of gear un the 1/4. Or are you just talking in general. A higher tire is a quick fix. My 245/50/16 were 24.75 inches high. Now I have 275/50/15 and they are 27 inches high and there is a big difference. I am going to 4.30s from 3.73s soon.

well I really don't know if the comparison between 4.10 for an AOD and 3.73 for the T-5 is fair...I still think the T-5 would be quicker because the the gear ratio in a T-5 is 3.35 if I am not mistaken or close to it and an AOD is like a 2.45 or 2.48. So really to compare AOD with 4.10 to a 5 speed you would have to change the planetary gears in the AOD to something along the lines of a 3.08 1st gear ratio to get that head snapping effect. However, I would go with no less than 4.10 in an AOD...I had 3.73 when my car was till an AOD and wasn't really impressed. I do like the 3.73 with a 5 speed though!

I never had it on the track, but from the 1/4 we clocked out, yea it did RIGHT at the end. That was with a 265/50/15. It sucked for daily driving too, it was either rev to death or go slow and I didnt like doing either

You are the first person I have ever heard of that didn't like 4.10s with and AOD.

You cant really compare the two. They have completely different gear ratios in the tranny.
