Wow,410's with a T5,whats your rpm at 60mph?

My car with a T5 and 4:10 turns about 2300rpm's at 65mph on the highway. That's with 265/50R15's. I don't really drive it on the highway that much, so I'll trade some top-end for all that low-end any day.

I don't think anyone has ever meant that a T5 with 3:73 is exactly the same as an AOD with 4:10, just similar. Maybe a more acurate statement would be that a T5 and AOD with the same gear aren't going to pull the same.

Yes your rite! But every car Ive owned in the 11 years has been a 5-spd! I need a brake,Im really glad this thing is an auto !! Im just really hoping I wont regreat this,I do alot of driving,highway/and local.I dont care to much about gas mileage. As it stands rite now ,every time I go on the highway I find myself doing 80--90 mph!! My logic is,with 4.10's I wont be able to go that fast without revving the **** out of my motor!! And hopefully it want shift to fast when I do around town driving!!!!

I never had it on the track, but from the 1/4 we clocked out, yea it did RIGHT at the end. That was with a 265/50/15. It sucked for daily driving too, it was either rev to death or go slow and I didnt like doing either

Try this calculator on slowgt.com. It should give you a better estimate. http://www.slowgt.com/Calc1.htm#RPMInGear

The overdrive gear ratio for the AOD is 0.667.

This brings up the question of how to figure in the torque multiplication factor of the converter? If an AOD was only a fluid coupling, and had a 2.48 1st gear and a 4.30 rear end, the final ratio in 1st gear would be 10.66 as is with a standard transmission car with the same ratios. With the torque multiplication in the converter during non lockup, the real overall ratio would be lower at launch. Any input on how to factor this in?

The multiplication table for a stock converter is I believe 1.91:1My PI's torque converter is 2.53:1 .Thats why I like auto's better then 5spd's.Out of the hole a 5spd has HP,rpm, and the rear end gear ratio. An automatic has all of the above, plus a torque converter!! My torque converter is by far the best mod Ive put on my stang !!!!!!
