What is the difference between AOD & AODE? If there is a difference, how can you tell which one you have?

94-up came with the AODE, 93-older came with the regular AOD. The AODE is electronically controlled.

Nice car by the way...I have a question about gears. I also have an automatic and I was planning on getting gears for my first official mod. I did some research and found that manual should get 3.73's and auto should get 4.10's. I saw that you upgraded to 4.10's fairly recently. Would that be the way to go for me also even though I drive it as a daily driver?

I went with 3.73s myself. How much Highway driving do you do?

I did 3.73's way back..Best NON power adder mod EVER!

I did a lot of highway driving then so I was fine. Now, with the Vortech, Im glad I did NOT get 4.10's...I spin like crazy as it is.

If you are going from stock, you will LOVE 3.73 and be satisfied with them.

AOD=shifts controlled by mechanics of the tranny.
"E" = Electronic...Computer controls the shifting...this is really nice when using a chip or TwEECer.

Mine is about 9mph at 70... so it says 79mph but I'm doing 70mph. This will add miles to your car.... ugh. But it's not Too annoying for the performance gain you get.

Edit.... that was when I was running 16 in wheels. I should probably RE-check it now that I have 17s.

with the speed-o gear, Im off about 10%...but the OTHER way. When my gauge reads "70, Im doing about 77-78. I measured the miles once on the hwy by the markers, and when the mile markers hit 15, my odometer had turned 13.5 miles.

I guess I have a few more miles than the odom. shows.
Also, my 13 mpg is really more like 15.

Is there any way to compensate for the gears, and make the speedo and odometer correct again? If so, what are the options?

Lots of money in a box that converts the signal. Others will have more info... but it was TOO much for me to spend just to correct a little problem.

You can get a little plastic gear with different teeth. About $20, and it plugs in the tranny housing. Resto5.0 carries them.

Welcome to the gang. Most of the guys that do all the yakking in this board seem to be from Florida (?)....

I've got supposedly the closest one (tried 2)... you'll still have to learn to live with it if your an AODE owner.

I just used the Speedcal. It gives me that extra peace of mind that the speedo is accurate, which is nice considering all the highway driving I do.

3.27 is the ratio they used for the aod-e cars, but I have read about 3.08 gears in some. To test it, put the rear of the car in the air and spin one of your rear tires once and count how many times the driveshaft spins.

HHmmmm...now let's see, did it spin 3.27 times, or 3.08 times
