well today is not a good day, awful day at work so i thought would relax and try doing the baumann mod

a couple of questions

1. On the 1-2 shift accumulator the retaining clip broke while being removed (very lighty) what do I do here?

2. The check ball was either in the (check ball only early models) or the one above that it was attached to the plate when i removed it. please note location D on the plate there was holes there already so my guess is the check ball DOES not go into the (check ball only early models) location?

3. The above check ball has a flat spot on it, is this ok ?? the rest are round

4. SHIFT POINT spacer what do most people set these at?

5. The spring included in the kit replaces the TV Valve spring ??

Thanks for the help

The shift spacer I add like .050
The ball is no good
Just get another clip for the accumulator
Put in the pink spring (I think that was the color)
The early models have the check ball the later models do not, also the seperator plate is different in that location.
What year is your trans ?
Pre-'88's had accumulator problems - with late or no shifts, or shudder on 1-2 shifts.
After 88 the AOD’s have no 1-2 accumulator piston, but have a 1-2 accumulator valve in the valve body.

my car is an 88.. but I got a used VB from a tranny shop so i can leave my stock one alone but i need the clip and the check ball so i will have to use the ones out of that. So |I don't know what year the used VB is anyway to tell? sounds like I am going to have some issues since I have no idea what I have :(

Thanks for the pics Wade :)
so I take it, the spare VB I bought is for 89 and up ? and can't be used in my Transmission
So I now have to mod the VB that is currently in my car now ?? DAMN

Hope this helps.

I had some issues with the AOD in my 93, bad OD band. I had a transgo shift kit on it. I got an AOD from an 88 Grand Marquis, it didn't have the longer tailshaft so I lucked out there, but it did have the accumulator piston in the trans. I wanted to reuse my VB from my 93 since it had all the stuff done to it for the shift kit. I talked with Silverfox at CCR, here is a like to the thread quick q about valve body interchange - Click Click Racing Forums, and he said you can swap a later VB onto the earlier trans but not the other way around.
