AOD help

I'm trying to put on tranny cooler lines, but it seems there should be a special fitting that goes into the tranny. Where do I find that fitting? I don't have the old lines, and finding parts in a salvage yard is next to impossible. What is the best cooler lines to use?

You can find them in the "Help!" section at Autozone, or Pepboys.. the section that sells replacement pedal rubber and crap. Ford transmission line fitting is what they call it.

Don't go with those junky quick connects!

You can rob flare fittings from another transmission or get them at any radiator shop. Then go to the parts store and get some 5/16" tubing with the fittings and flares already there. I would get a 25ft roll and double flare them myself. It's cheaper and more professional that way.

You can also upgrade to 3/8" tubing if you want.

when i did mine, the just took the hose that came with the cooler kit and shoved it over the flared pipe and and used a hose clamp to hold it tight. hasnt leaked in over a year so it must be working

birdguy, do you know what other trannies to get the flare fittings? I guess I will have to do some calling, and see what I can get.


any tricks on bending metal line? Never done it before, so any tips would be appreciated.
