ok this is what i did, when i had an auto 95 gt, i had basic bolt ons like full exhaust and gears, nad i ran a 14.4 @ 96mph. i turned my OD off and held the brake down with my left foot and reved the motor up to 1500rpms and let go when it turned green and then i floored it. my 60ft was 2.2. i chirped a little bit but i still ran a good time. if ur interested u can swap ur AODE for a tremec 3550 for about $2,500
Jeffyh....I can understand. The exact same thing happened to me. I was shopping for a stick and then came across my 95GT automatic. It was such a good deal and in excellent shape I could'nt pass it up. I love my car completely but still wish it was stick. I haven't driven my car at the track yet but have driven an automatic. I just held my foot on the break and reved until I felt it start to slip. As soon as green you let off the break and just try and use your driving skills to keep from spinning. That is what worked best for me.
Thanks 5literstang for the info on the possible switch. Its tempting.
200 timeslips and a stock stall converter is where I'm coming from.... I found it's better to NOT rev it at launch. You want your tires to spin to get your power up. Especially if your car is near stock. I ran a tenth or two faster if I would go WOT from a dead idle.
I just put in a bigger stall, but they didn't build it right and are sending a replacement stall as we speak. I'll post my results when I finally get it in and going.
