I think I had this in the wrong forum for a while.
I just got done putting fuel injection and an aod in my '66. I had an old b&m shift kit laying around I put in, but I don't know much else about the tranny's condition.
Anyway, it has a stock converter but seems to slip up to 2000 before engaging, especially in drive. The really bad part is it doesn't shift up. I've only had it around the block twice.
Would my TV cable adjustment affect this that much? Did I put a checkball in the wrong spot(I was just finishing off a six pack by the time I put it back together)?
I'm all ears.

Damn, I had trouble with my shift kit sober... haha Yes, your TV cable adjustment can affect the shifting of the tranny, but mainly in downshifting... You double checked with the instructions when installing it? Your sure the kit was for a AOD right? You should take it out and try it WOT and if it shifts into second only when you let off at WOT, then you messed up and the line pressure is goofed somewhere..

You've checked that the fluid level is right when hot??

well, I yanked the tranny out to get it checked and fix a rear main leak. Could my problem be I have an A9L computer? Someone told me it would be OK, but the more I search I think its a no-no. As of now I have done no wiring to the trans, am I missing something?

The AODs are purely mechanical, so I highly doubt the computer has anything to do with your problem. I have heard of a bad tv adjustment keeping a car in first right up to redline, so that is definitely where I would look first. After that, the problem would likely lie with the transmission itself.
