aod question

i just installed my aod with the lokar kickdown cable and a b&m shifter and i noticed before i put my driveshaft on that i could turn the yoke with my hand when the shifter said it was in park. I have to have the shift lever pointing up to work with the lokar cable but the B&M instructions have the lever pointing down. Does having the lever pointing up reverse the shifting order? I pulled the lever all the way back and could no longer turn the yoke so I am assuming that is park? anybody ever have this problem? This is in a 67 mustang with a 351w. thanks

you are correct. there should be alternate instructions for the lokar cable if not then i'd suggest a call to lokar tech support

so ill probably have to reverse the shift lever so its pointing down? i hope not so i dont have to pull the pan.

Just been there and done that. My AOD came with the shift lever down like I asked for from the builder but I had to flip it up to work with the stock shifter.
Park is at 2 o'clock and 1st at 10o'clock, yours likely will be them same. Early 90's aod's are setup different I believe. You'll have to take the pan off and flip the lever 180. Your tv cable lever will be down and will work for you but you'll have to secure it from the back with a pan bolt.

I did this swap. I'll try and help what I can. The AOD you got for this swap, was it a column shift donor or floor shift donor? If its from a column shift, you'll need to pull the pan, remove a small pin that holds the shift arm in place, flip it 180* and then reinsert the pin you removed. I have a picture that kinda shows this location of the pin (It was a real bear to remove on mine as it really wasn't a solid pin, but a thin stainless steel sheet rolled up and wedged in this hole).

I did my work with the tranny set on my engine stand for EASY work. If you have to do this on your back, I don't envy you. If you have other questions let me know.
