Hi guys I have a question.I'm looking into a '89 GT I like the car but there's only one flaw, It's an automatic. How hard would it to convert it to a manual transmission?what parts would be needed?,is it difficult?I have heard of lots of people doing the swap so hopefully someone can help me out.

As an estimate how much would all the parts needed be?And it seems like a good amount of parts would a transmission shop be able to help?

i would go to a junkyard and get everything you can for the swap, if it's a 4spd manual car you can still use all the components except the transmission, such as the cable, pedal assembly, etc.. and junkyards are usually fair priced compared to buying new from a transmission shop, or find yourself a parts car like i did and have everything for a spare, it will come in handy sooner or later

You could do it for under 1000 if you play your cards right. It's not a hard swap if you know your way around a tool box. A little patience and mechanical know how and you're set.

Yes you can use the 4 cyl pedal assembly. The Pedals are the same, Be sure to grab the t-5 harness. it runs from the driver kick panel, under the carpet and over to the trans hump, and out to the trans. If the links posted above dont answer all your questions, keep posting. I just finished my t-5 swap with success.
