i just realized i have a early model bellhousing with my newly rebuilt t5 out of a 95
has anyone made this work without getinng a late model bellhousing if so how
i cannot find a bellhousing anywhere and the junkyards say that the 3.8 wont work
if they will i found one of them but would like to use the stuff i already have

i'm guessing you have a 94/95 car??

you do need the 94/95 bell then

another choice is to use the 87-93 bell, and the 87-93 style input shaft and bearing retainer, and use a driveshaft spacer. you'll have to research that for all the details.

you'll need an 85-93 bell housing from a 5.0 car.

the trans will work, but the input shaft itself is longer, as is the bearing retainer.

To make it work, you're going to need an input shaft from the high alloy type setup 90-93. you'll also need a new bearing retainer.

to swap input shafts, pull the 4 bolts off of the retainer, and twist the input shaft out. put the new on in, and you'll HAVE to check for proper endplay, or you'll destroy the tranny. be sure you use the correct 90+ input shaft too, not the earlier 85-89 style.

hanlon motorsports.com or astroperformance.com has your input shaft, but it's gonna cost $150ish + another $35 for the retainer.
