Wanting to convert from an AOD to a T5 potentially using a T5 conversion kit I found on eBay. It has the following:

Included are the following NEW parts:
nodular iron flywheel for 82 and newer 5.0/302 engine
King Cobra clutch kit w thowout and pilot bearings
new Ford clutch cable
new speedometer cable
USED partss:
bellhousing w block plate, fork, pivot ball, fork cover
shifter boot for console
clutch/brake pedals

My question is whether the items above are truly all I would need in addition to the T5 tranny, and whether or not I would need a new crossmember?

I have an 89 LX 5.0, and a Ford Racing aluminum driveshaft. Thanks.

I'll throw my 2c in here...I just finished a c-4 to t-5 swap in my 86'. First off, all of the parts will need to be compatible with the transmission you will be using. Will you be using a 4cyl., 6cyl., or 8 cyl. t-5 trans? This will affect what pilot bearing you will need to use on the input shaft. Also, the spline count on the trans. input shaft will have to be the same as the number of splines on the clutch disc. You didn't specify which king cobra clutch you will be getting, or the trans. you will be using, so I can only really emphasize that the parts need to correspond to each other...meaning that you cannot put a 10 spline clutch on a 26 spline input shaft...know what I mean? Also, I recommend getting the whole rotating assembly balanced at a machine shop along with the new pressure plate and flywheel. Now we're talking about a possible engine rebuild too...When the machine work is finished, they will usually put a mark on the flywheel, and another on the pressure plate, so that you will line them up properly when you do the final installation. This costs some bucks, but will eliminate any vibrations, or bucking when you drive the car...this is a fairly large job in my opinion, and I'll probably never do it again. I'll just get a mustang that is already a 5-speed...hope this helps, and good luck!

Does anyone know what speedo gear I would need with a T5 and 3.73 gears?

I'm also still curious if the AOD trans crossmember will work with the T5.
