does anyone know anything about the aod? i have built one with the wide ratio 4r70w gearset, and the coupe in which its installed has a 4.10 ring and pinion. problem is that it doesnt stay in second gear long enough to take advantage of the available power. all other gears are fine. is there any valve body mod which i can do to extend the time in second gear?

I have read some where there is a special valve body required to run the 4r70w gear set in an aod, it might have been on the performance auto website or lentech. i have the gear set an want to build a aod with it, how hard is it to rebuild an aod?

hmm i was thinking of getting a tci valve body anyway. well on the car that i tested, i know the ring and pinion messes up the governor and thats what messes up the shift points, so next car i do will be no lower than 3.55s. oh well i guess more searching for me. thats what sucks about doing auto trans, the average enthusiast doesnt know what im talking about anyway. thanks for the response. as far as rebuilding an aod, if youve done a 4r70w, then you can do an aod. just make sure you take your intermediate clutch pack clearances and endplay, as you will now have a 4 plate intermediate clutch pack, and the 4r70 reverse/od drum. use the 4r70 od band too. i got an aod jumbo od servo from tci to complete the swap.
