I am in the process of doing a shift kit on my 1994 GT, its a B & M shift improver kit, my dumb a$$ accidentally drilled a larger hole in the seperator plate in various locations, its not much larger, its suppose to be .078 and I went .094... the larger the hole the more fluid goes through causing firmer shifts, i already went to the highest level in the kit by drilling a hole anyway, is that small amount going to make that much of a difference?? if so where in the world do I buy a new seperator plate? I cant find any

seems like whenever i try to find information online I see a lot of people with problems and not enough solutions so Im going to keep updated on this topic so it may help someone in the future while also helping myself...

I talked to a transmission shop today and I took my seperator plate and valve body for my AODE and supposedly all the holes that were suppose to be drilled .078 that i drilled .094 really doesnt make a difference except for the one over the TCC that had to be .078 so you can use a special ball pene punch to shrink the hole down, may actually shift better then the kit suggests, so we will see. waiting on another spring that didnt come in the kit, should find out how it does saturday or sunday, will keep posted

Figured I would update on this situation...

Put car back together, everything went well, car shifts much better... car actually had a missing spring in the 1-2 accumulator and the one that was in was broke in half... yeah it doesnt chirp 2nd gear but it doesnt help it has stock gears and shifts into 2nd around 60mph

So that small drilling mistake made no change in performance!

I am actually interested in this! I love to drive a manual cause its fun, but only dealing with manuals is hurting my knowledge as a mechanic. Bedsides I might stay with the AODE if I cant find any t5's laying around at a fair price. Mine just sucks bad and I dont know s*** about auto's...

I knew nothing about the internals of an automatic until I did this shift kit, i learned so much, and its quite easy... After this I tackled an Allision transmission in a 2500HD Duramax with a bully dog shift kit, suprisingly both were similiar, an AODE and Allision.. lol who knew? So its pretty simple, take your time, read directions, make sure you have all parts before hand and have fun!

If you want to roast the tires in first and chirp them in second and possibly third swap out the diff gears for 4:10's. With the 1-2 shift at 60 mph you likely have 2:73 gears.
