BONE stock? Not much. Certainly not the amount of torque tha a 331 like yours generates.

Add a quality torque converter (I suggest Edge Racing), a shift kit (I suggest TransGo), and a transmission cooler and you're doing much better. Add a manual valve body (like Lentech's) and you're gold.

I've heard that an otherwise stock AODE with the four parts I mentioned can handle ~450 RWTQ.

With a rebuild using top notch internals (like mine), you could expect to handle much more...the shop that rebuilt my AODE said it should handle 650 RWTQ.

x2... sounds about right on all accounts. I've upgrade all of mine except a hardened input shaft. My tranny guy told me there is a small piece up front that 95% of the time will break first. So I saved my $$$ and didn't get that piece.

Paul, the lead tech at the shop that built my AODE said that the only time you have to worry about the input shaft is when the tranny downshifts hard from 3-1 or OD-2...not that big of a consideration if your drag racing.

I figured why not, since I was already spending so much, and had it done anyway.

LOL - I did a manual downshift from 2-1 at WOT with the 125 shot once. Stupid me forgot I had it in 2nd when I launched against a guy. Guess I should be glad I wasn't in 3rd.

*** Warning, do not try the above at home. This stunt was preformed by a trained idiot. Results may vary, and is your mom hot? ***
