If I need another tranny,(aode is current) would it make sense to have mine rebuilt, or go with an aod and aod specific computer from a '93.
I recently read in MM&FF that it is popular to do this swap.
What are the advantages and disadvantages?
I have a stock 95 GT with 4.10's, thanx

Exactly. Said another way, the computer on a fox does not have much of an idea what the trans is doing (controlled via a TV cable).

I also think it is a step backwards (just like doing A9L conversions, though that puter has so much better programming). I will have to break down, get rich, and get a TwEECer to get it to run like I want. :)

The pre 94 aode's are vacuume controlled. the newer aode is electronic controlled. I think it would be a hassel to do it.

The pre '94 was the AOD , but they aren't vaccum controlled. They operate using tht TV cable attatched to the throttle body which regulates the line pressure. That being said isn't the newer 4r70W alot stronger than the AOD or AODE? I think it is direct swap other than needing a stand alone controller for it.

I allways get the tv and vaccum confused. The 4r70w dosent need a stand alone controller. I think you just need to swap the aode electronics and tail shaft housing. And you will need a tune becuase of the internal gearing change.

Yeah, from what I gather, the newer 4R trans (even in V6 trim, I think [since that bolts up to a 5.0, that is what I paid attention to]) is stronger/better than the old AOD(E).

I like the simplicity of the AOD/A9P combo. All this electronic mumbo jumbo gives me a headache. Be happy James. :)
