Astro Performance Wharehouse, I can get an "A-FIVE" t-5 with stage 3 clutch, about 500 miles on all, and I think an aftermarket flywheel too for 1600 bucks. Good for up to 650, hp I was looking into a G-force synchronized t5 but came up upon this deal, should I do it? Ive never heard anything bad about either but I never see anyone with an Astro Performance trans. Their site is kinda shady, it doesn't have much info about them or any good pictures. Would you consider this deal? btw ill be putting an S-trim on my motor which will be fine for either trans, but if I can save about a grand ill go with the APW t5.

Don't waste your time and money on a T5 in any shape or form. Get a Tremec 3550 or TKO. Buy it once and never have to shell money out on a transmission again. As long as you don't let them run out of lubricant or try shifting without a clutch, they are bulletproof.

Astro performance is a very good company. The owner has done a lot to help me out getting parts and whatnot for transmissions I rebuild.

I dont agree with Jrichker on this one. You can get a GeForce or APW trans for 1000-1500, and thats all you need and it will handle the same amount of power as a comparable tremec. With the tremec you will also need a lot of new parts such as the bellhousing to support the trans.

Opinions are like noses, everybody has one. Some people have two opinions, but I have never seen anyone with two noses...:D

Everybody talks about the G-Force and other T5 variants, but very few people actually have them. I have a Tremec 3550 that I have beat up for over 110,000 miles. It has soaked up full throttle powershifting, stop and go traffic, and everything else I could throw at it. It shifts fast, smooth and never complains. I would like to hear from someone with a G-Force or other super T5 variants that have hit the 100,000 mile mark. It would be interesting to see if they are as trouble free as my Tremec 3550.

(Rick 91 Gt) told me that he was running a T-5 that he shimmed up on a 350rwhp motor with a 300 shot of nitous on top. He said that he power shifted all the time and launched at over 5000 rpms. With the nitrous the trans held up to over 700lb of tourqe. He ran it for to years and the guy he sold it to is still running it. I am having him do the same to my T-5. My brother ran a completly stock t-5 in low 11 sec 90GT that weighed 3700lbs with him in it and it never broke. I pounded on my T-5 for over 80,000 miles before I finnally lost 3rd gear. The las 10,000 or so miles were with over 400ftlb at the wheels.

yeah, I only didnt go with a tremec or something is Ive heard about problems, complaints about them, even new ones......NOTHING at all about g-forces. and one thing, if i did get a tremec then i need the new bellhousing, Im not putting one on without checking the runout etc on it, n adjust it with the dowels, i dont have the tools or time to do that, barely have enough just to change trans normally working 60 hours a week. I just want to take mine out, change the clutch throw back in the new trans. and be done. To add on about the high numbered stanged t-5's, my friends t-trimed, methanol injected put down 615rwhp through his bone stock t-5, with stage 3 clutch and slicks.

BACK to the main question of the thread, should I get an APW trans? I never hear much about them, positive or negative. Their site doesnt show much info, or have any pics of the internals or anything which is a turndown for me. Should I get this one or save up another grand or so and get a brand spanking new g-force (upgraded everything which is supposed to be good for the same hp range (650).

I personally would trust astro performance. Email tony, he is very knowledgeable and should be able to steer you in the right direction. [email protected]

I have also heard about problems with tremecs, the 3650 in my dads 03 mach is very hard to get into reverse at times, and if you are using to shifting a T5 its kind of hard to get used to how close together the gears are in the tremecs.

Any T5 in any car is a waste of time... TRUST people who have been there. I dont care what they tell you.... If you do any kind of performance in your car, a T5 in not the tranny for you.... How many posts have you seen on here about people breakin there 3550 or TKO??? and how many times have you heard about people having to rebuild there T5's again.... Knowledge and experience is power man... I would leave any kind of T5 on the side of the road... But thats just my opinion.... Everyone has a friend with these crazy 600 HP street cars with T5's... Not to sound like an arse, But everyone I know including myself who is putting down over 450 RWHP, blew up there T5 WAY WAY WAY before that mark.... T5's are like a timebomb waiting to explode..... I know its not what you want to hear, and you just want an answer... But I will always tell everyone, once you buy a T5 and blow it up and build it again, you could have just bought a big Tremec once...

Yeah I hear ya, I blew my first t-5 last year, downshift to 3rd and punched it, and BOOM....ClUNK CLUNK CLUNK CLUNK haha  but that was also a stock t-5. Im talking about t-5's with stronger gears, and all that good stuff, and g-force now has a stronger case so the stock case isnt a weak point now. Dont wanna start a tid bit about this, just asking everyones opinion on the subject. but no I have never heard of anyone breaking a tremec or a G-force, I'm still open to using a Tremec or Tko but just depends on the deal I come across with since I'm always finding good deals, I decided to pass on this trans anyway, I know I'll find another or better deal so no big deal.
