Some people swear by them. If you are using them in your 03 Cobra, I would say don't even bother. If you are putting them in your fox body, I would do it. You hear a lot about older 5.0 GT and LX's with 4 cyl springs, I have read that they do work.
I have not heard of doing this. What is the advantage? I imagine they're softer...giving better weight transfer. But, what are you giving up? Cornering.
I put Ford Motorsport lowering springs on mine with KYB gas pressurized shocks/struts. Stiffened things up a lot. But, maybe that's not what you're after. I'm just thinking out loud here...
BTW...when I put the new springs in, I found that the factory spring on the driver's side was broken one coil down from the top. The car did sit a little lower on that side, but no one noticed except me. I figured it was due to body twist.
they are going in the fox, well since i converted to carb and took ALOT of weight off the front end, the car sits really high up front now! I also heard that they are really good to put in for track use
If your nose sits high, they'll help correct some of that because it's a lower spring rate and it'll drop down some. Also it'll let the front end rise up for weight transfer. Just keep in mind that cutting the springs to further lower the car defeats this.
Yes, they will lower the front. I cut 3/4 coil off my 4 cyl springs on my 82 5.0 , and it was a bit too much. Got another set I am going to install stock to see if it raises it about a 1/2 inch.
The drive fine, and do give a bit more front end rise on launch than the stock springs in the car.
I have 4cyls up front, but used to have h&r race springs. Imo the only advantage is the weight transfer. Steering feels really sloopy. Street perf sucks, I have to take corners slow or feel like I'm gonna roll. Plus I never did notice a drop even compared to my stockers. If its not your dd and for the strip - go for it. Otherwise it's not worth it imo.
