Are 7.5 axels the same as an 8.8

Different due to ring gear. Not as strong. OK under V6 engine. Life is limited under STRONG v8 power. They are the same bolt up more or less. I pull the 8.8 from my 95 and slapped it under a 99 that had a 7.5 in it. Same EVERYTHING except for one thing. The 8.8 had shorter axle tubes so I had to use wheel spacers. Its just that the 99 and up had a longer 7.5 and 8.8 in them anyway. But I would only go to a 7.5 if I had no money and a busted up 8.8 just to get by. This works is reverse for anyone thinking of using a 7.5 or 8.8 from a 99 and up under a 94-98. You would have a rear end with an INSTANT wide look. Not sure what it would look like but you would automatically add 2 in on each side almost.

same
hea meant axles, not the whole rear. for 94-98 the 7.5 and 8.8 are the same. i called ford and checked part numbers

Well that would be great if it would work for me, as some of you probably know i am currently swapiing a 5.0 into my wifes V6 car. I have a fox 4 stud 8.8 with 3.55's. Do you know if you can use the 95 7.5 axels and rear brakes to make a rear for the car the cheap way? Any help would be great thanx

you have to cut the axles 3/4" each and regroove the c clip grooves i think[/QUOT

So does that mean that the housing is a different lenth than the previous body style, and is this going to give me a funny stance.

Is it worth it or should i just find a junk yard special and rebuild it

Thanx Dagz

yea fox is shorter. you would be better off getting a fox 8.8 or a 94-98 8.8 for a wider rear stance

I kinda thought so but was only hoping it would work. I have a kick ass donor car but someone already ******ed the rear before i got it. Guess we'll go shopping.
