Are all 3G alternators bolt on?

I mean will the bot on to an 87-93? i have an ac delete kit with the stock alternator,will any 3g being from a 94 on up stang bolt on with just wiring issues to be modified?I run an electric fan and im just starting to have problems

Yes, 3G alternators are essentially a bolt-in, however 3G's have various types of cases, and while they will all bolt up, some require that you slightly grind/modify the alternator bracket to fit it. Nothing a die grinder can't finish in minutes.

A 6G requires no grinding. It's basically a 3G with smaller case

my 3g took a lot of grinding (and cutting!!) to make fit. i had to take a big chunk out of the alt. bracket.

When i did mine i followed how my buddy did his, we grineded off a section of the bracket, maybe 2 inches squared worth of material from part of the 'webbing' that's just below the alt. Then he had a great idea of threading the upper bolt hole of the alternator itself and running a bolt into it instead of a long bolt/nut to hold the top on. Its a lot easier to get on/off and only takes 1 wrench to do it.

Its is not difficult at all. You will have to do some minor wiring mods. There is a kit at PA Performance for around $7.00 that takes care of the wiring changes. They also have download instructions for $2.50 that walks you through the entire upgrade.
