are all 8.8's the same internally? can I use '99 gears on an '87

Hey folks,

I have a line on some used '99 gears. I would like to put them in my '87. Will they fit? Anything to look out for when buying the new (used) gears?

They will fit. Make sure that the ring and pinion are from the same vehicle as they are "wear matched" now.
