Are cobras dangerous?

The frame is fine. I wouldn't put much faith in that person's statement (how exactly did they arrive at their conclusion? 
). From the pictures I've seen online, many of the trashed late model 'stangs have held up fairly good after a crash.
If you are worried about the outcome of a bad wreck while racing at the track, install a cage. On the street, you'll probably be OK as long as you are buckled up and not driving like a maniac (ie - 130 mph on a 25 mph road that has plenty of curves/twists/hairpin turns LOL).

Have you notice how heavy these cars are? Driving them, one should notice how beefy they are.
That is the reason I like the feel of a mustang. Not a sub compact at all.
There is a video of Jason Preistly (sp?) in a 95 Cobra R, taking a right hand turn in a race. Well his brakes gave out (needed stainless braided lines up front?), and he bouced off that wall and man I will tell you, that car seems to do just fine in an impact. Sure there probably was a roll cage and sub frames stiffening it up but still. No worries in these cars compared to any other well built car for the street. And probably better than most.

I'll have to disagree on the rearend crash comment...I got rearended in my cobra about 2 months after I bought the car by a 15 year old kid without a license...He hit me doing about 35mph or so...His front end was trashed and most likely totalled...the only thing it did to my car was it scratched up the bumper cover, broke the styrofoam out of it, and bent the tip of my tail pipe...I think the damage came to like $550...I couldn't believe how well it held up to an impact like that, esp with the damage the other car incurred...
Like someone said above, the rear-end collision is dangerous. This is because the gas tank is back there. Most modern cars have the tank in front of the rear wheels for safety reasons. All Mustangs since the beginning have had this flaw and Ford has never seen fit to correct it. If someone hits you hard enough in the rear (50+ mph faster than you're going) your car may catch on fire and/or explode. Mind you, it's fairly rare that this type of accident will happen.
Front end collisions, the car does really well. Side collisions, it isn't very good, but is satisfactory.
