Are GT and Cobra Anti-moan brackets the same???

I have the rear anti-moan brackets off an '02 GT in front of me.....as well as the Cobra anti-moans from my newly purchased 2300-M Cobra rear disk kit.

They look indentical to me. I've measured them and compared them every way i could possible see....they measure out identical.

Are they?

The rears are not the same. Go to http://www.2kgt.com/item.php?itemid=104 Scroll down a ways. He shows a side by side comparison of the GT vs Cobra anti-moan brackets. In the write up he explains how he had to remove the quad-shock bracket on his GT in order for the Cobra anti-moan to fit when he upgraded to the Cobra rear brakes. He also explains how he left it off the passenger side after he learned how much trouble it was to modify the quad-shock bracket. His car is primarily for race so he probably won't miss the anti-moan. I don't know how that would work on a street car.

Ok this is interesting.

It appears as if i have TWO pairs of Cobra anti-moans...although i'm positive 1 set came from an '02 GT. I'll take a pic at the set on my '03 GT tomorrow, but i'm sure it looks like the Cobra style

Both the GT and Cobra anti-moans i have look like the one on the right....but they do not say COBRA on them at all...both sets.

I'm positive that the other set of anti-moans came from a GT. I bought an entire rear disk setup from an '02 GT complete with calipers and axles brackets and those are def GT specific...it just appears Cobra anti-moans were used.

They are part of the rear disk brake hardware. The bolt on the backside of the axle bracket and give the rear caliper another point of support by bolting it to the axle.

I am upgrade from GT rear disks to Cobra rear disks on my 5.0 LX.

Here's what I have

Left side is the brand new bracket from the 2300-M Cobra kit that i just bought.

Right side is a bracket from the '02 GT brakes i currently have.

They are identical. Excuse any differences in the photos, it's just the angle they were lying at and stuff. Notice the Cobra bracket does not say Cobra, but is identical to the Cobra bracket posted above.

Makes me think at some point Ford started using the Cobra anti-moans on the GT.

I'll take a look at the brackets on my '03 GT tomorrow...but i beleive they look the same

Looked at my '03 today. They are the GT brackets like those pictured above and look totally different than the brackets i have that i thought were off a GT.

I guess that means i have two pairs of Cobra anti-moan brackets.

That should be worth extra on Ebay
