Are these Wheels too ricey??

Local Les Schwab wants to do Wheels and tires on my new Yellow GT real bad, Looking possibly doing a 245/35-19 front, 275/35-19 rear with the TSW Catalunya wheels on the top left Here, What do you guys think? Ideas?,

Personally I like something with a little more meat to them. But hey if they have some in stock have them put one on see what you think. Good luck, tough choices ahead.

Good choice, that is my style that I am leaning towards. I think they are better looking when they have some more meat to them. Unless you have some sexy aftermarket brakes (Brembo), then showing off the stock brake caliper isn't that good looking, IMO. I did a photochop of what they would look like on my soon to be black '05...

I have got to learn how to do photoshop . Thanks. Schwabs said those would look good on there, but I wasn't sure. However after seeing them on the photochop, They really don't look that bad, at least not rice. With some Good brembo (or cobra when they arrive) brakes, I whink it would look awesome. I have always stayed with the meaty wheels, so this will be straying away. It is getting hard to stay with a Meaty 5 spoke, and still stay original.
BTW- They would give me those wheels, 2- 19x8 and 2-19x9.5, with the Toyo T1-S for around $2,250. Seems like a pretty good deal. But then I paid MSRP for the car, so what do I know

Are you doing chrome, or the hyperblack? The chrome are about 80% more than the hyperblack.

I was thinking about doing hyperblack. That yellow car is already bright enough, I need something to offset it a bit. And If I decide to do black boss markings or racing stripes,the hypeblack would really set it off. What is the widest tire anyone has seen on these cars?

Those Halibrands look badass in a nice deep dish. One of the 'stang mag put some on a Mach1 and they looked amazing....they'd really set off the vintage theme of the new Mustangs. Gotta have spinners though..

Don't think they make it with an offset for the '05 right now but am sure they're working on it!

I'm struggling with the offset a bit. As the rim gets wider, and the tire goes from 235 to 275 wide, would you want to reduce the offset slightly to keep the tire from popping out past the fender? In this case, I add 40 mm to tire width, 20mm of which goes out. Depending on clearance, I now need just how much less offset? Someone must have worked this out.

If you don't want the tires to stick out, you need *more* offset, not less. Offset is the distance between the center of the wheel and the mounting surface.

If you get tires that are 40mm wider, you will need 20mm more offset if you want the outer edges of the tire to be in the same place. There's a limit on both ends of the spectrum, though, as too much offset will cause your rims/tires to hit your brake calipers or shocks.

The stock tire/wheel (235/55-17) is 27.18" in diameter.

There's an issue with the back tires that you've selected.

If you go to a 275/35-19, it will be 26.58" in diameter. When your speedo says 65 mph, you'll actually be going 63.5 mph. Not really that big of a deal.

The front tires you've selected are an even bigger problem...
If you go to a 245/35-19, it will be 25.75" in diameter. It will be 1.43" smaller than stock and 1.17" smaller than the 275/35-19's. What this means is that in you have Traction Control and or ABS, the computer will sense the different rotation rates of the different size tires and try to turn on ABS or Traction Control.

I initially wanted to put a smaller tire on the front and everyone that I talked to said not to do it. I ended up putting:

285/40-18 on the back

and

255/45-18 on the front

Both on 18 x 9.5 wheels.
