Are tubular K members safe?

I've been debating for awhile now whether or not to do a tubular K. I like the extra clearance it gives you for headers and whatnot. The weight savings are also nice..

However, I read somewhere that in a front-end collision the stock k member will drop the engine down under the car so it doesn't end up in your lap..

So, how safe is an after market tubular k member?

Yes the tube Ks are pretty safe, and the extra noise is free.

for a daily driver just don't buy chrome moly and you'll be fine...

Don't **** around when it comes to changing the stock one. MM, griggs, or stock

Front impact is safe enough for a standard to heavy accident, if anything you will blow a control arm bolt hole out

exactly, MM, Griggs or stock for a DD or road race car. anything else is gambling with your safety.

there are some custom ones you can consider as well, but the cost will be prohibitive. you can get pure custom road race ones designed to work with your suspension, engine, trans, oiling system setup.

If I were to get a tubular K member it would have to be an MM piece. Every shop i ask about tubular K's always asks what I am going to do with the car. If I say drag racing they say most brands are ok. If you say autocross they tell me no, except if it's an MM piece. that tells me right there that MM is the way to go. If the piece can't take everything I can throw at it I don't want it.
