Are your gauges noisy?

Right after I turn the car off I can hear a crackling noise for a few seconds, It sounds like its coming from the gauge pod? Anyone else?

Are you sure it's from the gauge pod?

It could be coolant passing through the heater core.
It could also be compressed refrigerant on the move still, if you were running the defroster.

No.
It would be toward the passenger side, but the sound you hear can be deceiving in its origins.

it could be the speakers. my current car does that from time to time, it has a factory amp and i brought it to the daeler, they said it was some kind of ground problem, but of course they couldnt fix it b/c they couldnt find it. i hope when my 06 gt comes in i dont have that problem

I get it too. It's very faint, and it sounds like a wind-up clock running down. You can't hear it with the radio on, so next time you take a drive, mute the radio, then turn the car off and remove the key, leave the door closed, and listen carefully.
I have an 05 GT with the IUP and MyColor option (don't know if that makes a difference).

I've been wondering about it, too. Definitely sounds mechanical (i.e. not coolant/refrigerant.) It seems to come from the odometer.

like I said, it sounds to me like something winding down. Sound like something behind the dash is spinning, and when you turn the car off, it keeps spinning for a while until it stops. I don't know, I'm used to classic cars, so all this electronic stuff is new to me. Is there possibly a little fan (like in a PC) to keep the electronics behind the dash cool?

Mine too. Same thing. Sounds like something spooling down to a stop a few seconds after I turn the car off. Never really worried about the noise. Just some personality showing in the car. (I would get worried now if I stopped hearing it...)

Can't say as I've ever heard it, but could it be the ventilation blower? I think the thing is always on, even if you turn the HVAC control to off, to provide positive ventilation for the car. Could be it's just spinning down.

One more time -- It's not anything fluid. If you have not heard it, stop with the heaters and hoses stuff.

It sounds like an egg timer, or something wind-up that is winding down. I forgot to mention I have IUP. How about you, TicketMe & Dragon?

well im glad im not the only one thought i was for awhile.. It definiatly sounds like a clock or something winding... BTW i dont have IUP so we can scratch the thought of only IUP cars having this problem.. i assume its normal?

I paid a little more attention this weekend, and I noticed the noise occurs as the gauges fall to zero after turning off the ignition. At least one of the gauges must be gear driven (or gear reduced) instead of using a typical electrical meter movement.

I noticed the same thing, There is zero noise in my friends 06?

Ive also noticed that the noise is there as soon as you turn the key before starting that car

Could be a the fan in the stereo. The cd's in my 04 screw get really hot in the unit and I've heard they put a fan in the later models to counter it.
