No, you are correct. The gears are a lot lower than normal, but adding the intake/tb will lean out the gears and they won't seem as steep. You loose a bit of torque when you change to a bigger intake.

Well that sucks.. new intake didn't come with intake gaskets and we couldn't get anything to match up at the auto stores. SOOO.. I have to overnight TrickFlow gaskets to get them here on saturday so we can install everything. Cost me frickin $40 bucks for gaskets+shipping.

I use the FEL-1250...

Traction is effected by weight of car/weight transfer/condition of suspension/pavement type and temp/gearing/power/tires/etc.

Yeah, the FPP-1250 is what it suggests but I ordered the TrickFlow intake gaskets that have bigger port openings just to make sure it was gonna fit plus they were cheaper than the FPP-1250 so I ordered them overnight.

I called around today and asked if anyone had them, everyone said they would have to order that gasket set, and it would cost around $40. So I really didn't lose anything.

Plus I wanted them here by Saturday so John and I can do the install.

hmm, I called trickflow today and told them what I ordered. They said the TF gaskets that I ordered would probably work, but were made for ported heads.. hence the taller and wider gasket ports. The recommended application is the fel-pro 1250.. well I finally found someone in town that had them, cost me $27.. no problem.

I call summit racing to see what they can do about my order and the rep said I could refuse shipment, but I would lose the shipping costs and only get credit for the gaskets.... crapola crapola amnit: ... so.. I'm going to keep the gaskets for future use if I port the heads that I end up with (trickflow).

It was all my fault, but just makes me mad. lol

So now I will definately has gaskets that will fit correctly for tomorrow.

Yeah, I believe the gaskets you got where for the the TFS Highports?

The 1250's will definatly work on stock heads. If John sees that the intake opening (on the tfs intake) is wider than the stock head intake opening see if he can smooth "out" the intake openings (open them up) so you don't hit a wall with the new incoming air. It should match quite well though...You should feel the improvement

I want to know how the throttle body feels like...tell me what you think, I might be getting a bigger TB just for the heck of it sometime down the road.

Yeah, the TF Rep said they were highport gaskets. John said the ports on this intake were not as big compared to the Holley.. which makes sense because it doesn't make it into the 6500 rpm range like the holley does. I'm going to have tons of bottom power and more mid-range.

I guess the rest of the TF kit (mainly the heads and cam) make it flow a lot better than the holley kit.

John had a 302 block with heads sitting in his garage and I finally saw what the exhaust ports look like (outside the engine bay) and I couldn't believe how small they were. The whole 302 was an engine waiting to breathe.

Yes, the exhaust ports are very small (didn't you help put on the headers...you should have seen them.) They are babies. Even just my AFR 165 exhaust ports are nearly 2x bigger than stock ones. Literally.

Yeah the TFS intake you got doesn't have as big of ports, which is good...your stock heads/cam don't want to flow past 5,6-5,800 anyways so the intake will match your engine better and still flow when you get the heads/cam later.

The TFS and Holley put up similar numbers to the wheels (about 290-305rwhp) but the TFS is more streetable which is why I would prefer it

Personally with your setup, I wouldn't go less than 70mm TB.. You might not feel it as much if you upgrade from the 65mm but you should gain some more mid-range.

I thought the Holley ports were big, and I was on TF website.. I seen the BOX-R Intake.. makes power from 2,500 to 7,900rpm.. my jaw dropped. That has got to be a sizeable intake. They also make BOX-R Heads also I believe. what a setup that would be if you had a 347 or bigger engine.

Well it has been dyno proven that a 65mm TB can handle 400hp without being a restriction. I like that I have a FRPP piece (oem quality) and I like the throttle response...I've did a lot of research on tb sizing.

I would only expect to gain in the higher rpms while the tb blade is open 90* because with the increased vacuum (from higher rpms) the 75mm TB wouldn't have a problem help pulling it in. I'm looking for the longtubes to give me the midrange...

Yep, those intakes are quite massive...not something I would put on a stock stroke.
