But, now a bunch of the N/A 4.6L Gurus are saying that 4.10's and 4.30's are ideal for the mod motors, even the 5-spds. I've been getting told that if I wanna do a purely N/A setup for the quickest track time, then I should go with a nice cam, long tubes and to make up all that lost lowend torque (i assume that's why) I should go with 4.10's or 4.30's.. and that 4.30's are ideal for these motors, not the pushrods tho. So, since he's got an auto then 4.10's are the highest gear he should go with, but I would believe that 4.30 would be a nice choice for his car. It'd get a lot of pickup for him
But, if I wanna go KB then I should go with a 3.73 or so. Since you don't wanna run very low of a gear with that type of blower (twin screw/roots/positive displacement).
Kinda strange when I first heard it, but they do seem to know what they're talking about. They're getting the best track times with these setups.
Anywho.. how's that motor coming along?
I agree Jason, your going to quicker times. What I was saying is I don't pick a gear on just track times or getting the quickest time out of my car. I look at other factors. How it performs in stop and go traffic, the cruising rpm, etc...I just don't like "bigger is better" in a lot of cases...
But yeah it will make them quicker. They step up the gear ratio for mainly two reasons. Keep them in their powerband and torque multiplication.
Can't beat accufab...
Anyways, i'm just bored...

imo thats just what i think

) I think 4.30s would be just a little too much for me, being a daily driver. I know a lot of guys run with them and like them, but the 4.10s are enough gear for me. When I get cams and raise my red-line a bit, I think they'll be perfect gor the 1/4
