My two uncle's grew up in Sharon Mass. They both told me about Art Johnson's. One of my uncle's had a 67 L-88 Vette. He used to race there all the time. He had one of the quicker cars out there. He said people used to trailer dragcars out there with open headers and slicks all the time. They both remember car craft magazine comming out there to do a story on it. One night they were out there and they left a little early and on there way out from Rte 1 They passed about 30 state troopers with there lights on heading in there to break up the action. They said after that the cops really started to come down on he illegal racing action. Don't forget the speed shack was also out there. Plus Norwod Arena With their 1/8 mile strip and their roundy round track.

Reminds me of my dad talkin about that ERA as well.. but he was always down the road abit on RT1 at a place called "JOLLY CHOLLY's" in N.Attleboro.
They raced on the unfinished sections of RT 295 and the cops use to watch as well ..
Hey 1BAD50, Did the people in that day cruise between Art's in Norwood down to Jolly Chollys ?? ... Maybe you got some stories of Jollys as well..
