also, Tmoss does the LOWER intake for $100, i'm sure its at least another 100 for the upper, so thats 550 for the intake

and you prob will split the block w/o a tune running a 150shot
and the tranny will explode very shortly after you run it, and the axles will probably snap after a few runs w/ slicks

but of course all you care about is running it once or twice, and having a 15 year old car where you'll be worying if it'll make it through the day or not.

I won't say anymore, it almost seems like your a 15year old kid who's got nothing better to do than bother people over the internet with stupid opinions.

Show me a 10 second timeslip on a car that you built and I'll show you someone in here that doesn't think you're a moron. Until then, you're a troll.

If you're considering trading it in, I would go with the trade in value of private party value. Why would you include TTT with a car in which you've already paid it? For a new car, you WOULD need to include it, because that's extra money you will pay. Sheesh, they told me it was a young crowd in here, but wow!

cool

Sorry guys, I just can't take not replying to this. amnit:

Im not considering trading in my car, Im talking about the total amount that I've spent on my car to this date. I paid $6500 for it, but your telling me based on the current value of my car that I can't add $6500 to my total spent on the car because it's not worth that anymore.

Why would I not add "TTT" to my total cost if you're adding it to the total cost of a new Cobra? I thought we were talking about total cost of investment in the car + mods? So once you've paid the TTT for the Cobra, can you remove that from the total cost of the car since it's allready been paid?

who the hell adds in tax/title/license and interest on a car......

i guess i didn't get a 99cent double cheeseburger, it was really $1.06 + 44cents in gas, so that double cheeseburger costs me $1.50....right??

and some parts i bought weren't $400, but $440 b/c of shipping....right??

Though some of you may see him as annoying, his points and estimations are 100% correct (as far as modifications are concerned). I actually race my car unlike some people on here so i know where the right mods will get you:Track:

You've got 4yrs of service out of it! How is that hard to understand? At this point in time, right now, if you set a goal to go 10's in your car or a cobra....you would need to take the current value of your car plus the amount of mods you would need. This would be how much it would cost you to run 10's. If you lost any money from time of purchase untill now, that money is gone, done, outta here, not comin back. Understand?

You've already paid this 4yrs. ago., that money is NOT coming back. If you buy a Cobra, that will be extra money, that you will pay, opposed to keeping your current car...got it?

No, we are talking about this moment in time, right now. Disregard what you paid in the past, that money is gone. At this moment in time, you have a car worth X value. You can sell this car for market value and buy the Cobra with all of it's added expenses. Understand?

The penalty of modding your car. 'Tis worth the reward, though, when you get it all finished.

How's the rice-mobile running, Dave?!
Wanna race?

I've got to get it to the dyno now. I did a ECU reflash and full catless TBE, and that typically yields about 290 give or take, on a Mustang dyno. So maybe 310-315 on a Dynojet. I've also got a bottle of Torco in the tank, which brings the octane up to about 100 ... which historically is good for about 20 whp on a tuned STI (the ECU is adaptive, and will advance timing with high octane fuel). And that's about all I can ever expect without spending real money on a new turbo. As it is I'm exceeding the ability of the stock wastegate to keep up, which can make interesting things happen...

So what I'm saying is, my rice-mobile is fast enough to keep me from being embarassed by the 5" fart can (hey, got a great deal on it used ... and it's titanium ). It would eat my '95 for lunch right now, and from a dead stop it would probably hold off my Cobra until triple digits, but not a whole lot longer...

Sorry for the thread hijack, Nobody. Wanna by my Cobra?

Dave

This gives me an idea, I'm going to see if anyone in the 5.0 section has ran mid 11's for 4k minus the cost of exhaust and clutch...stay tuned...I want to know too!

So basically my total cost of investment in this car has gone down since I decided I want 10's? Boy do I feel better now that I know I havn't spent as much money on this car as I thought!

You've already paid this 4yrs. ago., that money is NOT coming back. If you buy a Cobra, that will be extra money, that you will pay, opposed to keeping your current car...got it?

This I understand, but I thought you were talking about buying a 5.0 compared to buying a Cobra, not building up you're current 5.0. Maybe Im getting this pointless thread mixed up with your other pointless thread....

Yeah I get it. I was talking about the price to buy and build a 5.0 compared to the price of a Cobra. You were talking about the price to build a current owned 5.0 compared to buying a Cobra. I think it's clear now, we can drop this subject.

^^ Even if we did start from scratch, the TTT on a $5,000 5.0 would only be a fraction of a $27,000 car.

Thats easy.....

http://corral.net/forums/showthread.php?t=715888

He has an appointment this week to get the suspension done i believe.

IMO, this thread is pointless. Wait no, the original thread isnt pointless but the arguing over which way to go fast is. Its a persons opinion...just like amuffler, paint color, etc etc etc. But i do think that a lot of guys spend wayyyy to much money(including myself) to run times that could be run with much less if done right.

You dont need $20k invested to run 10's....its been done before and im pretty sure Jay Allen is gonna prove it again. Im glad he made that thread because its a VERY good example of how to go fast in a 5.0 for cheap.

IMO, if u spend money for a dart block, forged stroker kit, blower(whether a supercharger, turbo, or big shot of nitrous), and all the supporting parts, you SHOULD be running a 10 with ease and hopefully less. I would be absolutely pissed if a guy like Jay ran my times with his car.

lol i wouldnt brag about those times..

If you think his estimations are right, then you build a 10 sec car too 12.9 is a long way from a 12.0, and a 12.0 isnt even close to a 10.0.
