Australian made cylinder heads, any good ?

As with anything in life: if it looks to good to be true, it probably is.

Saw these awhile back and asked around, manufacturer is virtually non-existent on the web at the time (haven't checked since) and the word was they were crap.

I doubt theyre made in oz. Our $ is nearly the same as yours now and any mfg would be hard pressed to produce heads at that price in oz.

As an example a new set of valves, guides and seats would cost around $500-600 US incl machining to be put in stock heads.

I'm about 99.9% sure those are the Procomps which have been covered endlessly here and on other mustang/ford forums. If so, they ARE made in China. With the price, it seems hard to believe the lack of first hand experience with them, but most of what I've heard has been 2nd or 3rd hand. People have had some problems with them, mainly with rocker alignment due to stud placement being off from the manufacturer. I have a set that I had fully worked and are being put on my 427 build.

When the page said it was made in Australia and I saw the price I instantly thought something was up. I don't think you can get a set of heads made and sell them for that price in Australia.

Speedway Motors has iron Windsor Sr's for $899 a pair, complete with screw in studs and guideplates.

Anyone know anything about Ford N351 or N352 sportsman heads? $999 a pair.

No reason to use GT40P heads anymore, I'm afraid.

the sportsman heads have wider valve placement requiring special ford racing roller rockers and guide plates, they have huge intake ports and enormous exhaust ports, they were designed for the nascar sportsman series and probably wouldn't make all that great of a street head. i have yet to see anyone running them in a street car and they have been around for several years, i think the N352 head is a revision with slightly smaller exhaust ports.

My local head porter tried a set on his flow bench. He said he honest to god thought his machine was broken. He pulled them off and tried another brand of heads before deciding the heads just sucked. Slightly better flow than stock he said. But not what an aftermarket head should be.

They take FRPP rockers - one has provision for an offset pushrod cup - per above. These are 10 degree heads. The local race shop (Dugan's in Riverside, CA) says that they use them occasionally for spec motors and they make about 10-15hp more than the Chevy spec head. They do need some work and there are probably many better heads available than these.

What I'd like to hear about are the CNC ported "Z" heads that Ford is offering. Also, has anyone seen the 500hp 331 that FRPP was touting not long ago?

P.S. Sorry for the hijack.

Saw these on ebay while I was just browsing. I have yet to send my 351w heads out for a port job. I was browsing for kicks and saw these. I'm not going to buy these but I thought I'd get some opinions on it anyways.

:rlaugh: :rlaugh: I guess you didn't read all the way thru that auction. These are the heads with the "extra thick" .400" decks. :nono: :nono: :nono: I don't care where they were made, .400 is almost 1/4" thinner than most US made aluminum heads and nearly HALF :jaw: as thick as AFR's .750" thick decks.

D, I read the entire auction and I did see that. I wont try to pretend that I know a lot. I don't know jack about heads/cams. I wasn't going to buy these things unless someone was all like, OMFG these are awesome ! Then I'd buy them but only if there was corraberative evidence. I figured these were cheap pieces of junk.
