Auto Meter Gauge Pod question

I just recd a new auto meter gauge pod (dual short pod design) And it doesnt fit snug around the top towards the driver. There is a gap between the pod and the pillar.

If you have used this have you had to trim the piece to get an exact fit?

should be an exact fit. i have that same pod and it fits snugly all the way around
