In Auto Meters ultra-lite series, what's the difference between the mechanical gauges and the electrical gauges? I've noticed that for the most part they record the same information, except in some cases the electrical is cheaper. Anyone know anything about this?

The difference is the sending unit, Mech types are either hardwired to the sender like in temp gauges or push fluid (oil/gas) directly to the gauge as in pressure. Electric types use seperate sending units that require a wire connecting the sender to the gauge which keeps gas & oil out of the passenger compartment.

mechanical: fluid/pressure is sent to the gauge itself (pron to leakage if the tubing/hose fails)

electrical: sensor mounted to the source and sends signal through wires to the gauge
