I did the swap on my '65 convert. It was dead when I bought it. Basically, I jacked it up about three feet and dropped the entire drive train (engine out the top though) and suspension/brakes. It is a big job but doable. In the '65 everything bolted in. Took several weekends, but was worth it. I use a gusseted Z-bar and it is smooth and reliable. Since it is all identical to stock (except for the 11" diaphram clutch), I keep the Z-bar linkage greased and it is fine. The biggest PIA was the pedal assembly. I went with a roller bearing unit even though it cost more. The bearings last a lot longer than the plast bushings in the stocker. The other option is to sell the car and buy a V8 car unless you really like the car. I don't know about the '69s. Maybe just and engine and tans swap plus springs are all you need. I seem to remember reading that somewhere, but maybe comparing specs (like brake size, etc.) is a good idea before you start.
