I was looking at a 91 GT for sale. Its an automatic, guy says tranny is going out but he has a t-5 he will include with the deal. Asking price is 1800 but im gonna offer a little less to see where hes at on selling it. I just wanted to know how hard is the auto to manual swap, anything special I will need to do or buy, about how much would that cost me? If it is even worth it? Thanks

Id offer $1500 cash, and expect to spend a good $500 on the rest of the T5 swap stuff. Doing it is not bad, just takes a little time. There are write ups about it online but I dont have any on hand, sorry. Best thing I ever did to my car was the AOD to T5 swap!

i did the swap and the worst part is the pedals for sure.

not really "hard" just an uncomfortable expierence laying on your back half way in the car etc etc just a pita. i suggest taking the front seat all the way out and its pretty simple. just unbolt it and be sure to plug everything back in.

the rest of it is rather simple, just like doing a clutch job except your taking the AOD stuff out. pop a pilot bearing in, bolt a flywheel and clutch assembly on and toss a t5 up in there, and you have to re route the speedo cable to free up the hole for the clutch cable

theres lots of little smalls things also.

PM me if u have any questions i will gladly help you

Thanks for the replies...... I'm going to look at the car some time this week. As far as price, how much do all the parts cost to do the project. I'm always looking for deals on another fox, maybe I'll just wait for another 5-speed to come around.

I did the swap in my '91 Coupe. Best thing I ever did to the car :D
Like prev posters said, pedals/re-route the speedo cable is the hardest part. If you take out the steering column it would be easier.
I left the A9P EEC in with no problems and even reused the AOD crossmember with the rubber mount
It's just so much more fun to drive with a 5spd :nice:
