alright, ive got a problem with my tranny fluid foaming. is a c4 with manual valve body at a 2200-2600 stall. the fluid level is right but im wondering if im checking it wrong. the dipstick says idling in park but the instructions that came with the valve body said check it in neutral. what gives? i just want to know why its foaming like it is. also, that car bangs into reverse really hard when i shift it for whatever reason also. if anyone can help that would be great. thanks

What kind of fluid are you using? The method I used was to run the engine to operating temp, then park it on a level surface, put in park, go slowly to reverse, then n, then OD,then D, then 1, then back up to P slowly, then back down again, then back up to P. The hard gear engagement sounds like low fluid.. but foaming definately isn't supposed to be happening to the extent that you're noticing it on the dipstick.

You have a tranny cooler on there with that stall right? .. and when was the last time you had it fully flushed, TC and all?

its a c4 and the fluid probably has probably 2k miles on it. ive got two coolers on it and i know its not overheating. im using type f fluid which i figured was the fluid to put in an old type c4 since thats all they had. but im thinking thats the wrong fluid because i dont think type f has anti-foaming agents or anti-slip agents in it.
