i just bought a 289 and a tranny. the guy said he pulled them from a '67 coupe but don't know if they were original. he said the tranny was a c4 but it looks a little different then the one in my book. the identification tag is gone. these numbers are cast on the body on the drivers side - C5AP 7006 A 22. on the passenger side - 22 6K25.
can anyone help me identify which tranny i have ? the heads have - 66 289 cast in. thanks

5=Year of 1965
A=Car line Galaxie
P=Automatic transmission

the picture in my restore book shows a circle cast in the body on the drivers side on the c-4. mine doesn't have this on either side. i just wanted to make sure it's a c-4 in case i need to order parts. i wasn't sure if it could have been a c-6 or fmx.

C-6s are all aluminum and have cast in bellhousings and FMXs have cast iron bodies with a cast aluminum bellhousing and C-4s have a cast aluminum body and a removeable cast aluminum bellhousing.....so it is very easy to tell what kind of transmission you have.
