My girlfriend was driving her '89 2.3L, and when it kicked down to go up a hill, she said it revved WAY too high, then sounded like a bicycle chain skipping breifly, then it wouldn't move. Park works, but when it is put into gear, idle doesn't change (not under load). took pan and filter off, and all linkage works, and fluid flowing through valve body (seemingly) properly. I was told that it might be a modulator valve (I didn't hear the sound, so i can't verify it), and some agree, but I figured a hundred heads are better than 1. So any help would be greatly appreciated!
