Auto Tranny Question

If you have the 4R70W tranny which I am guessing I do. How do you tell the difference between the 4R70W (std2.4) and the 4R70W (wide 2.84)? Any way to do this without opening up the tranny?

I m guessing you re talking about 1st gear ration???
I beleive that all 4R70W came with the 2.84 ratio. 2.4 were on the old AODE.
That s why they called it W for wide ratio

ya the 4r70w had the wider gear ratios.
