Auto Trans Leaking from Dust Plug Under Car

need a little help. I've had a slow leak that I first thought was a valve cover but no way. The fluid is red. It is 100% coming from a black rubber plug is maybe an inch and a half around on the very bottom center of the tranny. I looked in my hanes manual and behind it is the converter, it provides access to it to mark it for dissassembly. It appears to me that the cover is more of a dust plug than a liquid seal, which leads me to believe something in there is leaking. It is not a rapid drip but enough it will leave a small stain whenever I leave it parked overnight.

Any advise would be helpful, I'm lost as to how to track this down and fix it. Dragging around cardboard and staying out of people's driveways is unnacceptable.

what did you have to do to fix your problem?

I'm guessing this isn't a cheap fix.... and the tranny would have to be dropped to fix? It has 65k and it's it's stock....so I'm guessing now would be the financially wise time to upgrade while it's out anyway?

well dammmit. I've probably dropped 4 grand in my car in the last 3 weeks and my ladys fuse is getting short between that and having a custom cat getting built. (engine just got done, will be getting splashed in the next few weeks, here's a pic, some of you guys may like to see it) ::notnice: I just had to absorb a bunch of Juicy clothes today that she had to have to keep the piece. Damn those clothes are expensive, and for jogging suits....jeeesshhh:nice:

well, I may have to let it drip for a little longer. I just put on my paxton novi 1000 and the car is going to the dyno wed morning.

I've been wanting to do a manual conversion and I've had my eye on a promotion t45 rated safe to 750 rwhp. I don't really want to buy it right now but if this can't be fixed I'm certainly not going to put money into this tranny.

Anyone else had this? what did it take to fix?

622 ci merlin block. 14-71 blower. Dart cnc Heads, Fuel injection....etc etc etc. Should make around 1100-1200 horse and 1250 tq on pump gas, we'll see soon. We're tuning her for reliability, we could probably get more horse but I want to try to get 100 hours between rebuilds.
