auto trans swap 96gt to 02 gt

i would like to know if i can swap a 02 gt trans into a 96 gt. i know it will bolt up but am i going to have any computer problems, or anything else?

I dont see why there would be any major problems. Least not of the top of my head. Cause I know you can "upgrade" the older 4r70w found in the 96 and 97 Mustangs with the new valve body and accumulator pistons found in the 99+ 4r70w's without any change in computer functions and shift points.

should all work. if you are gonna do the swap if you can find it in your budget now woukd be the time to get a stall too. something like a 2400-2800.

You do have a good point. Now would be the time to install a new torque converter. As for the stall, I'de go with at least that size of a stall. Personally, I'de go with something around the 2800-3200 range but thats just me.
