auto transmission limits

So i just swtiched to 4.10's the other day in my 05 GT for my first time ever and did it all on my own(thank you, thank you very much) and they're amazing, i love them, no whine whatsoever. But then i got to thinking because it feels like i have a lot more torque and all, how much torque can the stock automatic transmission hold? im not worried about it at this exact moment but its just some information i would like to have in the future. thanks

Lol, the stock tranny can handle a TON...

Most people begin to see problems after a LOT of tough driving (i.e. drag strip at least once every week) and over 550rwhp...

And how on earth did you install your own gears!?

Did you "set" the new gears or just trust that they lined up like most Ford gears do? I'm thinking of doing it to my 06 and my wife's F150.

Changing the rear gears to 4.10 would not affect the transmission. You have not put any additional torque through the transmission, you have just made it easier to turn the driveshaft.

lol i got a tech guide online and followed the instructions, i put in new shims, bearings, and timed it all, but i did lie a tiny bit, i paid $20 to get a guy in town to press my pinion bearing on, but im 146 miles into my break-in period and still no whine

it did take me about 24 hours of labor to make sure i had everything perfect, i installed new different shims 3 times to get the best mesh. But m a real do-it-yourselfer, if i can dont HAVE to pay a shop i wont have to.

Thats probably one of the reasons why it took me so long was i only had half the right tools, i got the tech guide off american muscle, read it through like 3 times and started, im gunna warn you now that that guide does need a little modifying cause im pretty sure its on a later model (94-04 im guessing) mustang but the same general matter applies. For example the guide has a 1 piece driveshaft but on the 05+ models they have a 2 piece driveshaft you have to disconnect. Another tip is MAKE SURE you have a lift! i made the mistake with jackstands and with a lift i probably could of shaved down 10 hours or so. But it is possible with the stands. It gave me a lot of the nessicary information for the job but it wasnt complete step for step. IM me if you have an more questions about it thanks
