Lots of good info here.

I have a 07 GT, with minor mods, (see sig). One thing I definitely plan on doing, is putting on the GT 500 Brembo front brakes. What class would that put me in, since that technically comes stock on the GT500?

It's unclear if the GT500 falls into ESP or not since the rulebook shows "05-08 Mustang" and doesn't breakout the Shelbys.

More than likely, you're going to SM though.

Well since no matter what I do I will be in SM, should I supercharger or go N/A with a C&L Intake Manifold, Underdrive Pulley, and a Single Blade Throttle Body. Keep in mind I still want to get some what decent mpg when I drive it on street as my daily driver. If I go with a supercharger it will be a Saleen kit from Brenspeed that make 485hp.

Keep in mind I am not looking to Race for money or national rep, but just for fun. Autocross is going to be a hobby for me not a life style so I am looking for cheapest and best way to do it, and also I want to have the power to drag race or mess around with them little stupid rice burns that you see every where that think they are fast.

I believe you can change out the rotors and still stay in ESP IF they are the same size. But I think going bigger pushes you up, but I'm not sure where to. I'm pretty sure you can change the brake lines even in the stock class (i.e. to stainless...). But I think they hit you pretty hard for brake size or tire sizes.

If you really want to know, you'll probably have to read over all of the SCCA rules that someone posted earlier. I'd read them again, but it was annoying enough to read the first 3 times, lol. It's not THAT bad once you get used to reading it, but if you are going to autocross, might be a good idea to at least be somewhat familiar with it.

A lot of autocross forums can also help you figure out your class, there are always people trying to figure that out and posting, so you can try that too. And some clubs alter from the SCCA rules slightly as well (although not usually much).

Your goals for your car is the same as mine. Street car to have all around fun with. I like to keep things simple. That allows you to have more fun and less time adjusting things.

I am currently running in ASP since it is unclear where a Roush car fits. Though I was suggested to run in another class for a more competitive edge; though I don't remember the class. I will finish the season in ASP since I'm practically the only one running it consistently. Then next year switch to the other class. That class had Saleen cars listed in it; wish I could remember the class.

GT500s should be in AS in stock form. Looks like Roush cars (supercharged) fall into BSP as that is where the supercharged Saleens go (S281E).

Thats what it is!!! BSP...though the competition there is tough!! Its owned by the modded S2000s!!

I guess the GT500 is modded then...looks stock. Hmm...

A side note: I actually run in TSM, which is Street Tire Street Modified. The only difference is the tires. It's a local class, so you might have something similar near you. It really depends on whether you want to run Race compound tires or not.

Just thought I'd chime in. I started autocrossing this year with an already modded 01 GT

Clay a supercharger is plenty of power for autocrossing. especially for your car. I literally leave the car in 2nd gear during my runs and my car dynod around 375rwhp (safe tune). I could probably downshift into 1st, but I'm not good enough yet for it to come close to being more of a benefit. I'm running in the SM class on nitto555's. Not a bad tire to run on... this last time I noticed they got a little oily when I got em heated up pretty good.

If I were you though and were primarily interested in autocrossing, I'd put more of a budget towards suspension and less on power. I rode with a guy who has a 98 cobra (CP class). He's running a watt's and an MM suspension up front. He easily runs 4-6 seconds faster than me with his NA 4 valve motor. The car was an absolute blast to ride in...and it's his daily driver. He swaps rims/tires out at the track.
