Same thing... Mega fun!!!

The car still has much to give. It's nothing like the 5.0 I used to run. But the attention it draws and the fact that I'm using the car the way it was meant to be used really draws alot of satisfaction. I'm not writing this to pound my chest... but to only encourage all of you to give it a try some time. It's a cheap and legal way to really have a fun day.

I'm also going to take the time to throw out my findings. First the automatic is just a piece of chit. By looking at the gear comparisons of the C4 and the T5 I noticed that second gear on the T5 is right in the middle of first and second on the C4. Perfect. I continue to be frustrated with the slushbox because I just couldn't get up off the corners.. even with my 3.80 gear. So my urge for the tranny swap is even more hightened. Hopefully next spring.

I went for a ride in my bud's 03' Cobra... wow. What a huge difference race tire compounds make. He dove so far into the corners it was silly. My car would have been wiping cones left and right if I tried that. Oh, and 450 horsepower is nothing to sneeze about also.

So in general... the car still pushes... but the correct gearing in the tranny would allow you to steer more with your foot. And if you can afford the sticky tires.... you'll have a blast.

Hooked, yes... have been for about ten years now... I just have a hard time making time to get out there and do it. And since I sold the old autocross car, an 87' Notch, a few years back I just haven't had a car worth trying it in.

Yes, there is a guy there who runs a race spec automatic. He's a national champ also. I'm pretty sure it does whatever he asks it to do. Meaning he can up or down shift it wherever in the RPM range. But then I know his car is race only. I still drive mine on the street 95% of the time and would have to shift it manually. I might as well just have a 5speed. Besides there's just still something cool about being able to use a clutch.... :)
