With a stock valvebody and 3.27 gears the 1-2 shift takes about 1 sec to happen with 3.27 gears your motor is reving about 1,000 RPMS per second, if you want it to shift at 6,000 set the shift point to 5,000. With 4.10 gears the motor revs up faster if you leave the shift point at 5,000 it might not shift until 6,200 in that case you will hit the rev-limiter between the 1-2 shift, so you need to experiment and find the "sweet spot" if you do some reasearch there are ways to modify the valve body to make the 1-2 shift happen faster.

I am not sure if you have a seperate transmission cooler, if not I would consider adding that as well, heat kills transmission.
