Autometer gauge cluster

dammit...just when simco changes their design to something tolerable they make the faces white, i liked the idea of the silver faces on the old design...does anyone know if they offer the better logo with silver faces?

Autometer cluster coming! They're pricey at $471, but in my opinion it is the best looking. And if am going to be looking at it everytime I'm in the car, it's worth the extra cost over the Simco unit (to me).

Oh, got me a K&N FIPK coming too,...

Yes the amount of time while driving spent looking at gauges is second only to that spent looking through the windshield. When you get a catback system I recommend SLP Loudmouths; fit, finish, and sound is great.

Has anyone installed one of these Autometer clusters on an 04 GT?? I have heard rumors that it will not work on any of the 04 Mustangs....is there any truth to this rumor?? I think the cluster looks great but i want to know that it would work before shelling out 4 bills......

they look good but not worth spending 400+ on. thas probably why the stopped selling them, cost to damn much. but I will give it that it does look sweet, but I would rather spend my money elsewhere for some speed or something.

It seems to be hit and miss, some work and most do not.

If you look at your Autometer cluster before you install it, on the bottom side it shows SIMCO and a SIMCO part number. Simco was contracted to make the Autometers, but then started making the same thing and selling for less.

They now come with White faces, identical to the Autometer, except with a pony logo.

At least for me, it was the famous AutoMeter name on the guages that what I wanted the most.

Simco's from Mustangtuning.com

Mustangtuning lists it for '99-'04. Ford changed something in the '03-'04's. That's why some people are having trouble with them. Don't know if Simco fixed the problem? I hope they did cause those gauges are hot.

I did a search on the forums at Mustangtuning and I found out that the Simco gauges work for all 6 years.('99-'04) But the Autometer ones only work for '99-'02 models.

The Autometer cluster matches the rest of their Lunar series of guages.

For me it was the Autometer name on the gauges, AND the attractive font and markings they use. The cluster look exactly like Autometer's Lunar gauge line. Even if it is manufactured by Simco, it looks all Autometer. The Simco unit does not look the same as the Autometer piece.

I like my gauge cluster,..alot!

As far as the Autometer cluster working on an '04, I'd call Summit or Jegs (the big companies are usually easier to work with if returning parts) and see if they will take it back if it doesn't work. You'd only be out the shipping to find out (if they will agree to take it back if it doesn't work). Or maybe the Simco or Rousch cluster as an alternative.

The simco unit looks absolutely identical to the autometer piece. I should take a picture of both together. They have the exact same moldings, same white background, same electronics and glow color. Only difference is label and font.

I guess anything is possible.

However, the Autometer (and I assume the Simco too), just replace the mechanical guages. You re-use the electronic PC board, which is the back of the cluster. Since you are using your original PC board, I can't see what would cause a problem ? Your original PC board has to work with your car's computer.

BTW, you re-use the odometer module too.

I agree. The orange needles look much better, and I like the larger font of the Autometer's too.

i just really wish theyd be silver, i can live with the black needles, but when you compare the two that was the first thing i noticed, the orange just stands out much more.
