hey ya'll just wondering if they make there 5" tach's w/ shift lights in say 8,000 or 9,000rpm.... 10k is a bit overkill for what i want. or do they make there 3 3/4" models w/ a light? doesnt have to be lunar but i want something very easy to read....

oh and heres a stupid question. you still have a rev limiter right?.....

im looking at the lunar series.... a mech. water temp, electric oil pressure, and voltmeter. and a tach and shift light.

where can i mount the 3 guages? the water temp, oil pressure, and voltmeter?

i plan on mounting the tach&shiftlight on top of the dash....good idea or no?

oh and where could i find better prices....dont want to spend $500 on some damn guages....

Thanks

Chad

If your looking for inexpensive, you can get the AutoGage 5" with external shift light and 8k face for $107 from summit. They also make a 3 gauge panel to mount in place of your center vent.

how and where would i mount one of those to the dash?...

or could i mount it somehow onto the rearview mirror? and make it hang a bit lower?

i've seen a few setups mounted on the right side of the dash....how is this done?

preferbly i would love to mount it right on top of where the orginal is right on the dash centered to the steering wheel....anyone have pictures of this?

not a big fan of the big 5" tachs. looks like overkill when you can clearly see them from outside. i had an autometer in mine, but found out my stock one was just as accurate and i would always look at the stock one when racing/driving anyways out of habit so i took out the autometer.

I haven't decided just yet but I have an 86 so there's no real neeto guage pods for years earler than 87. I'm thinking of using some thin, rigid plexiglass and a heat gun to shape my own pod then covering it with vinyl to match my dash. At least that way, it will be ontop of the dash and the tilted to the driver. The shift light won't be right in my face either.

yyyep, thats it, i dont have everything put back together yet, but when i do ill have some pics, im using phantom gauges (5" tach, water temp and oil press.) white gages really look sharp on the black console. also i kept my shiftlight on my tach too, looks really clean, no wires anywhere.

I've been playing around with a few ideas for gauge mounting in the foxes. The first pic is a hand-built pod for my boost/fuel psi gauges. It now has a raptor shift light mounted on top (in the center), I'll try to get a pic of that tomorrow.

The second pic is an unfinished part (almost done!) for the center AC vent. When finished, it will be dyed to match the stock vent color and have a black metal grill mesh for the vent openings.

These are one-offs, but I'm entertaining the idea of producing them. Any feedback/ideas would be helpful.

Haha, thanks.

The pod in the top pic is actually pretty close to production. Just a few more details to finish, and it won't be really expensive. Up to 5 gauges can be placed in that basic design (all 2 1/16").

The vent pod is a little further down the road. This one is all hand-laid fiberglass and many hours. It still gives me something to work with for future products.

I understand the being cheap part; I'd rather make it than buy it, even though it usually ends up costing more in the end.

Alan
